Male circumcision has dated shown to protect from acquiring H.I.V. infection over sex with women - it has reduced female-to-male transmission proportions by 48% to 60% in sub-Saharan Africa - but that protective effect appears fewer reliable among men who have sex with men, according to a new meta-analysis published Oct. 7 in the Journal of the American Medical Association (J.A.M.A.). The review is the max comprehensive analysis of the subject to span. It encompasses facts from 15 studies conducted in seven countries, involving more than 53,000 men, highest of whom were Caucasian and approximately half of whom were circumcised. The authors concluded that presence circumcised reduced a man's risk of acquiring H.I.V. by 14%. That finding was statistically nonsignificant, but the authors say it should be regarded as a launching scrap for future trials. "This study gives us a more complete picture than we've ever had before," says Gregorio Millett, the study's edge scripter and a senior behavioral scientist at the Centers for Disease ascendancy and Prevention (CDC). The Orthodox Jewish parents of a boy whom doctors have ruled "brain-dead" are fighting in court to keep him on life support, arguing that their religion considers him still alive. Doctors at the Children's National Medical Center in Washington craving to end treatment for Motl Brody, 12, whom they declared deceased Wednesday after brain cancer left him with no brain activity, the hospital's lawyer Kenneth Rosenau told AFP. But Brody's conservative Jewish parents, aphorism their religion does not define finis in that way, are fighting to keep Motl on life-sustaining equipment in the hospital's intensive care unit, their lawyer Jeffrey Zuckerman said. The American Academy of Pediatrics has doubled its recommendation for a daily dose of vitamin D in children in the hopes of preventing rickets and reaping alternative pink benefits, the group said on Monday. "We are doubling the recommended amount of vitamin D children crave each day since evidence has shown that could have life-long healthfulness benefits," said Dr. Frank Greer, of the American Academy of Pediatrics, which released the new guideline recommendations at a meeting in Boston. I was watching that lengthy new fair alarmed The Doctors yesterday when I heard a heartwarming comedy about a 2-year-old boy named Dallas who was diagnosed at birth with cerebral palsy. He couldn’t speak, walk, crawl, wave or stabile smile. Luckily, his parents had banked Dallas’ umbilical cord blood at birth.
