My Favorite Brunette (1947)Legendary funnyman Bob Hope plays a baby photographer who gets mixed up with gangsters in this bubbly slapstick comedy-drama. Ronnie Jackson (Hope) wants nothing more than to step into the gumshoes of office mate Sam McCloud (film noir veteran Alan Ladd), a private investigator who runs his own detective agency. Jackson gets his big break when a mysterious femme fatale (Dorothy Lamour) strolls into his office and, mistaking him for McCloud, asks for help with her uncle's kidnapping. Jackson plays along with the detective role but is soon in way over his head as he becomes embroiled in a dangerous (and comic!) mystery. This spoof of the hardboiled detective genre also features horror legends Peter Lorre and Lon Chaney as Hope's villainous foils.Director: Elliott NugentScreenwriter: Edmund Beloin, Jack RoseProducer: Danny DareComposer: Robert Emmett DolanStarring: Bob Hope, Dorothy Lamour, Peter Lorre, Lon Chaney, John Hoyt, Charles Dingle, Reginald Denny, Frank Puglia, Ann Doran, Willard Robertson, Jack LaRue*sorry about poor quality- public domain Author: nigelhalfwitt Keywords: My Favorite Brunette 1947 comedy Bob Hope Dorothy Lamour Peter Lorre Lon Chaney Added: November 30, 2008

The Smell Of Reeves & Mortimer - Series 1 - Ep 6 - Part 3

Posted on November 28, 2008 in Maternity consignment

The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer was a BBC TV sketch show written by and starring double act Vic Reeves & Bob Mortimer. It is regarded by many as the pinnacle of their TV work to date. Its first series appeared in 1993 following the duo's move to the BBC after parting company with Channel 4 & had a second series in 1995. The show marked a continuation of Reeves & Mortimer's bizarre, anarchic and frequently silly comedy first explored on Vic Reeves Big Night Out, with a number of important differences. Firstly, Mortimer was now Reeves' partner as opposed to his assistant on the previous programme, and as well as getting his name in the title, he shared the trademark, prop-strewn desk with Reeves. With virtually all of the Vic Reeves Big Night Out characters consigned to the past (only the Stotts survived, appearing in the second series), a whole range of new characters appeared. The show also featured pre-recorded sketches and a lavish studio set, laden with columns and pillars and in the centre the enormous letters R&M, from which the duo emerged at the start of each show. The show would usually close with the song "Let's Have A Look At It," which saw the duo enthusing about the smells of things, from "Pol Pot's Dungarees" to "Lulu's Hairdos." All copyright goes to Vic Reeves, Bob Mortimer, The BBC & Channel X. The show would usually close with the song "Let's Have A Look At It," which saw the duo enthusing about the smells of things, from "Pol Pot's Dungarees" to "Lulu's Hairdos."
