Also Mr. Mulvy locked me in and gave me nothing to eat. I managed to telephone my mummy. Then we both made a dramatic mistake. I wish I could drive time back, but it is too late.My grandparents phoned me. They did while you were working. She was beating me.Jugendamt (CPS) did nothing but they sent me from foster home to foster home and at the end to closed psychiatry where I was locked in, beaten, was forced to take pills (the closed my nose so that I must take the pills) and was tighten. I escaped from psychiatry, was catched by the police and sent to jail for 3 jears alone in a cell. I became very ill. I came out and could nearly walk.I found a flat in Bietigheim-Bissingen. But I was brutally attacked and they try to frighten me.Nobody helped and I did not know where you were at that time, mummy.So I moved to Karlsruhe with the hope to get my peace.This was not so. I was attacked again. On 24th of May I was murdered in my flat.I haven´t found my eternal rest yet. My soul is mourning, wandering, asking, searching for justice.You outside ... you on the other side ... 6 Annual Big Press Conference Part 1February 1,2007President of Russia V.PutinRound Hall,the Kremlin,MoscowPRESIDENT VLADIMIR PUTIN: Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.As has become tradition, I will begin our meeting today by summing up a few of last years results. As I have said many times in the past, everything the government and the authorities in general do should pursue one main aim, that of raising the living standards and quality of life of our countrys citizens. I will therefore begin by summing up the results achieved in the social sphere in 2006.Wages rose by 13.3 percent on average, real incomes increased by ten percent from last years base, and old-age pensions rose by 5.4 percent. We have a problem, of which our pensioners are well aware, in that the replacement coefficient in Russia is not very high 27 percent. This is lower than in many European countries, but the retirement age is also higher in Europe. In Russia, the retirement age for women is 55, for men 60, and for many categories the retirement age is even younger. In Europe there is no difference between men and women and everyone retires at 60, or at 65, and in many countries there is even talk now of raising this retirement age. But we do have a problem, nevertheless, especially in the main sectors of our economy. Regarding the aviation sector, we have decided that employers in this sector now have the right to put more money into pension funds by counting them not as profits, but as cost value. This could be the path to follow in the main sectors of our economy, and the government, in any case, will have the opportunity to reflect on this matter.We are starting to see the first results of implementing the national projects. Wages in the education sector rose by 30 percent on average, while wages in the healthcare sector rose by 37 percent, as compared to the planned increase of 15-17 percent. We are now seeing a new inflow of recent graduates, especially into primary healthcare, and there is increasing competition in medical schools for this area of specialisation. We are pleased to see that natural population decline has decreased by 17.3 percent. The mortality rate is falling and the birth rate has picked up slightly.I very much hope that the measures adopted last year to address the demographic issue the maternity capital and the whole package of measures to support women who decide to have a second child will help to consolidate this emerging tendency.We still have a great amount of work to do in social development, including resolving one of the biggest challenges we face in this area, namely, reducing the gap between high-income earners and people, citizens of our country, who are still living on very modest means indeed. But we cannot, of course, adopt the solution used 80 years ago and simply confiscate the riches of some to redistribute among others. We will use completely different means to resolve this problem, namely, we will ensure good economic growth.Looking now at what actually happened in the economy last year, the national economy continued to grow at a rapid rate. We will get the final result for 2006 only in March, but various estimates suggest GDP growth of approximately 6.7-6.9 percent for last year. I say approximately because we still need to calculate events in the energy sector at the end of the year in connection with the warm winter. Perhaps there will be slightly lower figures in the energy sector, but in any case, GDP growth was higher than in 2005 (it was 6.5 percent in 2005). As you know, one of our main goals is to double our GDP in ten years, and this requires an annual GDP growth rate of around 7 percent (6.8-6.9 percent).For the first time in modern Russian history we had single-digit inflation 9 percent - in 2006. It is very good to see that this was precisely what we forecast. I remind you that when I became prime minister in 1999, inflation was running at 36.5 percent. We can see that much has been done to lower inflation over these last years. But we cannot stop here, of course, and we will continue to fight inflation and should be able to bring it down to 4-5 percent over the next 3-4 years.As you know, Russia has settled and paid off the former Soviet debt ahead of schedule. We paid not only our share of the debt but also that of all the former Soviet republics. Last year, Russia paid $22 billion ahead of schedule. Just to remind you, Russias debt in the mid-1990s came to around $165 billion. Billed as the polar bear capital of the world, Churchill, with a population of 1,500, is accessible both by air and via the Hudson Bay Railway. The 1,000-mile/1,600-km-long rail line was completed across the permafrost in 1929 by a crew of 3,000. Today, because the 36-hour train journey consumes a full two nights and one day in each direction, many tourists feel that the 2 3/4-hour, 650-mile/1,045-km one-way flight is a more desirable transportation option.Discovered in 1619 and the site of a Hudson's Bay Company fort constructed in 1688, Churchill grew into a fur-trading port. Then, after construction of the railway some 75 years ago, much of the wheat grown in Saskatchewan and Manitoba was exported via the port of Churchill to Europe, Africa and beyond. In fact, Churchill was once one of the largest grain-exporting ports in the world. Nowadays, tourism plays a significant role in the economy since Churchill lies astride a polar bear migration route. During the 45 minutes that it took Stu to drive our tundra buggy from Churchill out to the shore of Hudson Bay, he conveyed much information about polar bears to the participants in our group tour. The Latin name of the polar bear is Ursus maritimus or "sea bear." The youngest of eight bear species, the polar bear is thought to have evolved some 200,000 years ago from the brown bear. The world's largest land predator, the powerful and heavily-insulated polar bear is well-adapted for Arctic survival. The adult male polar bear can weigh from 775 to 1,500 pounds (352 to 682 kg) and reach a length of 6 feet to 10 feet ( 1.8 to 3.0 m). The adult female polar bear is smaller, weighing from 330 to 550 pounds (150 to 250 kg) and reaching a length of 5 feet to 8 feet (1.5 to 2.5 m).Polar bears range across the Arctic regions of Canada, Alaska, Greenland, Norway and Russia where they hunt the ringed seal, the most common seal in the Arctic. It is estimated that the current world polar bear population is about 25,000. Polar bears have an excellent sense of smell and also keen senses of hearing and eyesight. Their small ears and small tail help prevent heat loss. Polar bears are excellent swimmers and have been known to swim as far as 60 miles (96 km) without resting. In fact, the bears' massive forepaws, measuring up to a foot in diameter, are partially webbed to assist in swimming. Polar bears' fat layer, some 3 to 4 1/2 inches (8 to 11 cm) thick, both provides insulation against the cold and increases buoyancy in the water.Female polar bears normally give birth to two cubs. While mating occurs in the spring, delayed implantation doesn't take place until the fall which is also when the female bear digs her maternity den in a snow bank. Infant polar bears, covered with white hair, typically weigh only a pound ( 0.5 kg) or so and measure from 12 to 14 inches (30 to 35 cm). But, when the mother and cubs leave their den in March, the cubs weigh up to 30 pounds ( 13.6 kg) and have thick fur.Polar bear cubs nurse for at least 20 months. During this period they must learn from their mothers how to patiently await the return of a seal to its breathing hole in the ice. In lower Arctic regions mothers wean their cubs as they approach the age of two. On the other hand, in higher Arctic regions where conditions are more difficult, mothers care for their cubs for a third year.Starvation is believed to be the leading cause of death for sub-adults, those bears which have not yet reached maturity at age five or six. But those polar bears which do survive to adulthood have learned to hunt well. The annual mortality rate of adult bears is only 5% annually. Janet Kuypers performs this piece, along with poems and prose during the July 17 2007 performance art show "Living in a Big World", live 07/17/07 at the Cafe (5115 North Lincoln Avenue, in Chicago, Illinois). The show contained poems and music from assorted musicins from Wisconsin, Ohio, Tennessee, New Mexico, and even Canada, as well as original sampled music, include the writings listed toward the bottom of this show explanation. But in this show, Janet Kuypers, because shw was exemplifying living in a big world (the title of the show), she drew a large chair, painted it onto a white canvas (which actually was a bunch of pieces of 8.5" x 11" paper stuck together) and attached it to a wooden base, so she could literally sit in a drawing of a large chair (it was 60" wide, actually). And on some levels I can totally agree with that - I mean, I read submissions from email, saving paper and ink and postage, I keep magazines on line so people around the world can read good writing, I've even had musicians from Wisconsin, Ohio and Tennessee find my readings and set music to my words. But in the same respect, I sit all day at the same desk, staring at the web sites for the domain names I run, instead of actually meeting and working with people.I mean, at one point, the people i emailed the mostlived in the same city as me, and were only a local call away.in fact, one of my friends lived a block-and-a-half away from me,on the same street as me, buti still emailed her as much as i'd call her,even though i could just walk over to her houseand have an actual conversation with her.And even the phone, with cell phones you can carry a phone with you wherever you go, so you'll never be lonely, but it seems to give teenagers another reason to talk endlessly on the phone... Someone explained to me that while they're little, toddler boys in China can go to the bathroom like that outside - but if he goes number 2, the mother has to pick up his feces (you know, like they were taking care of a dog).But on the trains in China, they had a television screen in every car, with clips from what seemed like "America's Funniest Home Videos." Well, I couldn't understand a thing anyone was saying in China on this show on the train, but you couldn't help but watch, and you couldn't help but laugh. It was a great means of bringing levity when you're on a public train, like when you're on your way to work every morning on the el.—the poem: Private Lives 2005sitting on the el traini saw a middle-eastern mansitting across from meholding a large Zip-Loc bagof some sort of food paste,i couldn't tell,it looked like some sort ofcurry-filled food pasteand the man looked unhappy,and after a few minutesi saw him open upthe Zip-Loc bag,throw up into it,then close the bag againso, he was carryinghis vomit with himon the elat least he had a baghe could seal it up with—the prose: Passport To Outer Space And a lot of us have experiences around the city, and I've tried to see the world, not just this continent, but 15 European countries, Russia, China...I've searched for these stories around the world, I've gotten my passport stamped like mad... but my sister told me about Don Stump, a friend of my dad's who ran a restaurant, well, his father-in-law apparently bought and had the rights to the space in outer space (you know, like all of the space beyond out atmosphere between planets and stars and comets and asteroids and stuff...). My sister even said that his father-in-law stamped the passports of the astronauts that went into outer space, since they were crossing the areas he owned. But Don Stump was pushed away from their house once, because at least two men from the FBI were there... Apparently Don's father-in-law was minting coins, it wasn't money that was valid anywhere, but it's illegal for U.S. residents to try to make any sort of profit this way, the way they might have potentially done.Now, Don and his wife and parents have passed away, so.... I guess there's no way I can pay them for having my passport stamped for going to outer space. But when you're up high in the Earth's atmosphere, a lot of places look the same. I mean, Siberia, with snow peaks and mountain lines along the eastern coast, looks like the Rockies in America in the winter. It's only when you get closer to the ground do you see the real differences.—parts of the poem: In The AirChicago looks grand from the skywith this huge expanse of lakenext to it, like civilization crept upas far as it could but finally had to stop.The power of nature stopping the powerof mankind... Daylight, and the snow on the ground in the winter time looks dirty, too many cars have splashed mud on it as theydrove by. And in the winter the sky always matches the shade of grey of the snow: fitting for the city of the Blues. Maybe the snow is alreadythat color, that perfect shade of grey,when it falls from the sky in this city.When I'm in the air, I like to lookout the window. Clouds look likecotton balls when you're above them,and when you're landing cars look likelittle ants, on a mission, bringing foodback to their hill. And thestreets look like veins, capillaries in somemassive, monstrous body. And thefarmlands look like little squares of colors.I wonder why each plot of land is adifferent color, what's growing therethat makes them different. Or maybe it'sthat some of them are turning shades of redand brown because they are dying.And it always seems on a plane that you're stucksitting next to someone that is eithertoo wide for their seat, or is a businessmanwith his newspaper stretched outand his lap top computer on his littlefold out table. Once, when I was on aflight back from D. C., a flight attendantwalked by, stack of magazines in herhand, Time, Newsweek, Businessweek,and I stopped her, asking what magazinesshe had. And she replied, "Oh, thesemagazines are for men." This is a truestory. And I asked her again what shehad. I had already read Time, so I took Newsweek.—the poem: On An Airplane With A Frequent Flyer"I was once on a flight to Hawaii and I was waiting in linefor the lavatory. There was always a line for a flightthis long, you know, it seemed the washroomswere always on demand on a flight this long. SoI finally got into the washroom, you know, and Ilooked into the toilet, and someone, well, lost the battleagainst a very healthy digestive system and left the"spoils" in the toilet, stuck. Maybe it didn't want to godown into the sewage tank where all the otherwaste from this long trip went to. Can you imagineall the stuff this airplane had to carry across the ocean?Well, anyway, so I saw this stuck in the toilet, and Iwent to the washroom, and when I was done i flushed andit still wouldn't budge, and so I opened the door and walkedout into the aisle of the plane again. And there was thislong line of people waiting to use this crampedlittle washroom, and I just wanted to tell them all,'you know, I didn't do that.' And then it occurred to methat everyone, when they leave the bathroom on thatplane, will think the exact same thing."—and the prose: Around the World, & sweet home ChicagoAnd you know, I talk about travel around the world, but where we come from shows who we are. I mean, once I was on the other side of the world, at the Summer Palace, and an older man came over to me, knowing little english, and said, "My daughter and I wanted to know where you were from." So... not knowing how much geography they knew, I said, "I'm from the United States, in Illinois, in Chicago." And that's when this old man from the other side of the world said, "oh... my kind of town."
