Male circumcision has olden shown to protect men from acquiring H.I.V. infection all onward sex with women - it has reduced female-to-male transmission standards by 48% to 60% in sub-Saharan Africa - but that protective effect appears limited reliable among men who have sex with men, according to a new meta-analysis published Oct. 7 in the Journal of the American Medical Association (J.A.M.A.). The review is the uttermost comprehensive analysis of the subject to era. It encompasses goods from 15 studies conducted in seven countries, involving more than 53,000 men, greater of whom were Caucasian and approximately half of whom were circumcised. The authors that presence circumcised reduced a man's risk of acquiring H.I.V. by 14%. That finding was statistically nonsignificant, but the authors say it should be regarded as a launching period for future trials. "This study gives us a more complete picture than we've ever had before," says Gregorio Millett, the study's concluded word slinger and a senior behavioral scientist at the Centers for Disease driver's seat and Prevention (CDC). Approximately 2 years ago the Thirsty Mariner opened in Sumner. This bar is located directly adjacent to an apartment complex that houses nearly 75 residents most of whom are elderly. Since opening life has become miserable for anyone who lives near The Thirsty Mariner. Here's why:Loud musicThe Thirsty Mariner is not concerned at all for their neighbours. Nearly everyday (excluding Sunday) the Thirsty Mariner plays it's music so loud that it can be hard from a far away. Residents have resorted to living with ear plugs in. This noise comes in the form of booming PA systems for quiz night on Wednesday, live bands (now every Thursday until Midnight), outdoor TVs cranked up for sporting events, and of course loud music and bass that assails residents throughout the night. The situation with noise has become so bad that some residents have moved away while others have taken to sleeping in their offices in the CBD as it is quieter. Noise Control has been called dozens of times but states that they cannot act as the Thirsty Mariner holds a licence to be a pub.Shouting/screamingAccompanying this music is loud shouting and screams coming from intoxicated TTM patrons this also keeps residents from sleep. FightsThere has been a considerable increase in aggressive behaviour and fights stemming from intoxicated TTM patrons. There have been fights on the premises and in the parking lot. On one occasion an elderly couple in a car was terrorized by a gang of drunk TTM patrons who began rocking and jumping up and down on their car while the elderly couple was trapped inside. Broken glass/vomitThere is often broken glass and vomit on the sidewalk - a testament to the party the night before. It is heartbreaking to see children having to steer their bikes around this mess in the morning.Second hand smoke filling the apartmentsMany of the apartments cannot open their windows as the second hand smoke from TTM patrons drifts up and into residents apartments. My wife is now pregnant and I don't want her to have to inhale the collective smoke of TTM patrons.Drunk driversLiving next to the TTM we see numerous incidents of TTM patrons stumbling out to their vehicles and driving away drunk. "Bear with me," joked "Stu" Kelsey, our driver/guide, as he slowed to navigate a rocky patch on the unpaved track leading from Churchill, Manitoba to the shore of Hudson Bay. We were sitting comfortably in a massive 48-seat, butane-heated tundra buggy while en route to view the annual autumn polar bear migration. After spending one night at the gateway city of Winnipeg on 21 October, we had flown north on a 40-seat Hawker Siddeley prop jet from Winnipeg to Churchill early the next morning. Billed as the polar bear capital of the world, Churchill, with a population of 1,500, is accessible both by air and via the Hudson Bay Railway. The 1,000-mile/1,600-km-long rail line was completed across the permafrost in 1929 by a crew of 3,000. Today, because the 36-hour train journey consumes a full two nights and one day in each direction, many tourists feel that the 2 3/4-hour, 650-mile/1,045-km one-way flight is a more desirable transportation option.Discovered in 1619 and the site of a Hudson's Bay Company fort constructed in 1688, Churchill grew into a fur-trading port. Then, after construction of the railway some 75 years ago, much of the wheat grown in Saskatchewan and Manitoba was exported via the port of Churchill to Europe, Africa and beyond. The adult male polar bear can weigh from 775 to 1,500 pounds (352 to 682 kg) and reach a length of 6 feet to 10 feet ( 1.8 to 3.0 m). The adult female polar bear is smaller, weighing from 330 to 550 pounds (150 to 250 kg) and reaching a length of 5 feet to 8 feet (1.5 to 2.5 m).Polar bears range across the Arctic regions of Canada, Alaska, Greenland, Norway and Russia where they hunt the ringed seal, the most common seal in the Arctic. We stayed silent for a while knowing that we couldn't help him. He wiped the tears from his eyes and cheeks.- Im sorry guys, I justI feel responsible for this. What was I thinking? Bringing her in the middle of nowhere at the end of her pregnancy. I shouldve known better. I should've...Kevin said- There is no time to find why this happened or who is responsible for this, I said. The convulsions stopped, but she's still unconscious and losing way to much blood. We have to get in the car and leave NOW, I saidThey just obeyed. Kevin was too shaken up to take control, so I knew I had to step up. Kevin and I carried Katie to the car. She was wearing a summer dress. Damien gave her that dress, she loved it. Now it was stained by blood. We lied her in the backseat. Nick went in the driver's seat and Kevin sat next to him to give him directions. We had no idea where to go, but we knew anywhere was better than here.There was not much room in the back. Frankie was sitting on the floor and I was squeezed to the door, Katie's head on my lap. My hands were full of blood. Everything was full of blood. HER blood. It hit me. That was way to much. Losing all that blood could...could kill someone.Kevin kept looking back at Katie. Nick too.- Nick keep your eyes on the road. We do not need an accident, I said- Ok.- Kevin, can you try calling 911 again? I asked- Ok, I'll try.In my head I asked God to help us out once more. At this point, He was are only hope.(Frankie's point of view)I was wishing this was not real. But I knew it was. This was really scary. I hated seeing her like that. I never told her, but I loved Katie so much. She was always so sweet. I liked having her attention. I would make her mad when I was little just to spend time with her. I looked up at her. She was still uncouscious. I took her hand in mine. It was warm. I squeezed it. Then, she woke up. I dont know why, but she did. Everybody else was too busy to notice her suddenly opening her eyes. She seemed like she had lost it. Her eyes were moving in every direction really quickly. And then, they stopped moving. She stared at me, and her eyes were big. It seemed like if something had hit her in the guts.- Joe...I started as I was getting scared.- Maybe you should turn that way, I see lights...Joe saidHe was not paying any attention.- Kevin...I said as Katies face was getting whiter and whiter.- I think I have a connection...Or not, Kevin saidHe was not paying attention either.GUYS! I screamed and at that moment, Katie screamed. A scream more full of pain than I had ever heard in my life. I had never heard anything as unbearable(sp?) before. She formed an arch with her back as she was screaming and the grip she had on my hand became bigger and bigger. It was excrusiating(sp?). But I couldn't let go. If I did, she would be alone.
