Approximately 2 years ago the Thirsty Mariner opened in Sumner. This bar is located directly adjacent to an apartment complex that houses nearly 75 residents most of whom are elderly. Since opening life has become miserable for anyone who lives near The Thirsty Mariner. Here's why:Loud musicThe Thirsty Mariner is not concerned at all for their neighbours. Nearly everyday (excluding Sunday) the Thirsty Mariner plays it's music so loud that it can be hard from a far away. Residents have resorted to living with ear plugs in. This noise comes in the form of booming PA systems for quiz night on Wednesday, live bands (now every Thursday until Midnight), outdoor TVs cranked up for sporting events, and of course loud music and bass that assails residents throughout the night. The situation with noise has become so bad that some residents have moved away while others have taken to sleeping in their offices in the CBD as it is quieter. Noise Control has been called dozens of times but states that they cannot act as the Thirsty Mariner holds a licence to be a pub.Shouting/screamingAccompanying this music is loud shouting and screams coming from intoxicated TTM patrons this also keeps residents from sleep. FightsThere has been a considerable increase in aggressive behaviour and fights stemming from intoxicated TTM patrons. There have been fights on the premises and in the parking lot. On one occasion an elderly couple in a car was terrorized by a gang of drunk TTM patrons who began rocking and jumping up and down on their car while the elderly couple was trapped inside. Broken glass/vomitThere is often broken glass and vomit on the sidewalk - a testament to the party the night before. It is heartbreaking to see children having to steer their bikes around this mess in the morning.Second hand smoke filling the apartmentsMany of the apartments cannot open their windows as the second hand smoke from TTM patrons drifts up and into residents apartments. My wife is now pregnant and I don't want her to have to inhale the collective smoke of TTM patrons.Drunk driversLiving next to the TTM we see numerous incidents of TTM patrons stumbling out to their vehicles and driving away drunk. Havent talked to her since the BIG wedding. Candance: Ohhh. We need to three way! **Candance calls Megan** Joe: Hello Candance: Hey Joseph, is Megan around? Joe: Yea. Ill go get her. Megan: Hey girls! Sarah & Candance: Hey Megg! Sarah (to Megan): How have you been? Megan: Good, but found IM PREGNANT! Sarah & Candance: Ohhh Myyy Goshhh! Candance: I thought maybe stopping by Journey's or Pac Sun Megan: Yeah, I was there the other day getting some new skinnys for me and Joe, BTW did you know they dont make skinny jeans for pregnant people? what am i gunna wear for almost six months?, but any way when i was there i saw these amazing shades and i want them really bad! Sara: Why didnt you just buy them when you were there at the first time? Megan: Because i didnt have enough money. Sara: We should probably go by hot topic and get some band tees for the boys. Candance: Yeah Nick was saying how he needed more shirts and skinnies. Oh we better go to foot locker too. He said he needed some new converse too. And i wanted to get him some nikes too. Megan: He wears nikes? Candance:Well I have like three pairs and he always tries to wear them but im like four and a half sizes smaller than him. So i thought this would be a nice suprise. *They go to the mall and pretty much go to all the stores there. and spend almost all their money on them and their men *an. lol*. When they get done they go to Saras house, Megan calls Joe to come over so she can show him what she got and tell him a little something* *Joe walks through the door* Joe: hey babe Megan: hey- here is what i got--**Shows him his stuff(skinny jeans and some colorful tees** Joe: i love them! what did you get for yourself Megan:*pulls out a maternity cloths* Joe: why do you have maternity cloths Megan Nicole?
