When will it end for them? "Im sorry Maggie and Kevin, but he only has 6 months." The words the doctor said echoed through Kevin and Maggies ears. Maggie cried in Kevins weakened arms as he stroked her back, shushing her trying to fight back his own tears. Kevin had known Jack for 6 months now, and it felt like Jack was his own.Jack stayed in the hospital room, His hair becoming thin and his skin going pale. His eyes followed the toy truck that was moving back and forth on his lap. He was so helpless and alone, unaware of the 6 months he had left."hes 5 years old Kevin, hes too young. It shouldnt be like this." Maggie pulled away form Kevin and looked him in the eyes. Her face was turning red. "WHY IS IT HAPPENING TO HIM!" Maggie screamed. She beat on Kevins chest as he stood there helplessly. Inside the room Jack looked up at Maggie who had frightened him with her shrieks. "mommy" Jacks voice was frail as tears built up in his eyes and throat. Maggie saw his lips form the familiar words and she ran inside, embracing Jack."Im here Jack, mommies here." She rocked him back and forth holding him tight in her arms.Coffee couldnt fill the empty pit in Kevins stomach. He held the warm cup in his hands as he looked at Maggie. He took her hand and played with her purity ring that was moved to her middle finger, showing off her new engagement ring. "Why do you still wear this? I mean, Jack" Kevin started, fingering her ring.Jack. The words pained Maggie to say. " I wear it because Im pure. Im waiting until marriage." Maggie said grabbing Kevins hand. "But you already know that.""Youre just starting over? I guess having an experience like teenage pregnancy can scare you enough to quit for good." Kevin gave a light chuckle that hadnt been heard for a long time. Maggies stomach turned over in guilt. "Kevin...I never started." Maggie said sighing. Kevins hand shook."What do you mean? You have a child. You know how that works right?" Kevin said confused."I mean, I never had sex. I never had a child. Jack...he, isnt my boy. Hes my sisters." Kevin removed his hand from hers. He cleared his throat."How? What? Whos your sister?" Kevin stuttered. "Shes not my birth sister. Our moms are the same but, our dads are different. I moved in with my mom and my new dad, and then they had my sister. Until they got in a big fight and they separated. Mom and I were going to take my sister with us, but he accused my mom of abusing drugs and incapable of taking care of a baby. So we moved away. 10 years later I see her pregnant. She said her dads friends did it to her. She was 10 years old Kevin. She was raped and then knocked up." Maggies eyes watered."I-I didnt know. Youre such a good sister Maggie. Does she still visit Jack?" Kevin said taking Maggies hand once again."Ugh...no. Aleace commit suicide 6 months ago. I hadnt spoken to her since I took Jack." Maggie said wiping away a stray tear from her cheek."Oh. Im so sorry Maggie." Kevin got up and hugged her. Maggie turned her body from the chair and wrapped her arms around Kevin, lightly crying into his shoulder.And the party is just getting started...COMMENTS PLEASE? =)
